CollectA® Diplodocus – Grey Figurine

Diplodocus lived during the Late Jurassic period and is one of the longest dinosaurs ever discovered, with some estimates placing it at over 25 metres in length. It had a long neck for reaching vegetation and a distinctive tail that may have been used for defense or communication. As a plant-eater, it likely traveled in herds across what is now North America, browsing on low-lying ferns and conifers. Its skeleton and iconic silhouette have made Diplodocus a staple in museums and dinosaur media for over a century.

Its name means double beamed reptile in reference to the double beamed chevron bones located in the underside of the tail, which were then considered unique. Its extremely longtail is thought to have been used as a whiplash and defense against predators such as Allosaurus and Ceratosaurus with whom it shared its world. Species of Diplodocus ranged in size from 27 to 33m in length. A very popular model since its first issue, CollectA has now decided to produce anew colour scheme for its rearing diplodocus at the request of several fans.
